What do I support?
♦ Responsible and balanced residential growth, keeping the needs and priorities of our community at the forefront.
♦ Respect for seniors with expanded discounts for County services to keep them active, engaged, and supported. I will advocate for toonie($2) local public transit and a 25% reduction in rec centre fees.
♦ I also support an expanded seniors centre, to allow for more socialization and activities. Seniors are the foundation of our community, and we should do all we can to honour them and celebrate the value they add to our lives.
♦ Restoring the community’s voice with monthly public forum council meetings so residents are always heard. Council currently has quarterly meetings of this nature, but I support monthly meetings. Regardless if resident turnout is low, Council needs to give more opportunity to hear the voices of our tax paying residents.
♦ Open dialogue on large scale projects with real resident input before multimillion dollar decisions are made. Plebiscites are an option.
In their three levels of government, Switzerland, holds an average of 4 plebiscites every year. Why can’t Strathcona County have a plebiscite once or twice every four years? Especially if the decisions made will impact our property taxes and the services we have come to expect.
♦ Protecting our economic future by preserving and strengthening our industrial tax base to keep personal property taxes stable.
♦ Accessible leadership with open communication and timely responses to your calls and emails.
